The concept of creative idleness combines three factors: work (which brings well-being), study (which brings knowledge) and leisure (which brings joy).
This is not the same as the idleness, or free time, or laziness. I am against laziness, I myself am not lazy at all. views on the differences between the modernist and postmodern approaches are reflected in the diagram. The points put forward by De Masi reflect the transition from an industrial to what we call a post-industrial society, with a characteristic shortening of the working week and a need for retraining. In post-industrial society, work is no longer a central category. It is being replaced by the category of time we have and the ability to appreciate and evaluate it.
