Music affects us in the same way as food or sleep - it activates the production of dopamine, the happiness hormone.
The fact is that pleasure from the processes that are necessary for a person to survive is the most important condition for evolutionary development. Let's take food for example. To survive, a person must not only eat, but also eat the right foods in the right proportions. Pleasure helps us with this - taste and its perception force us to choose what to eat. In the process, our brains release dopamine, an adaptation that encourages us to engage in more of these behaviors (eating on nuts and fruits rather than lemons and tree peels).
