We will not now analyze the reasons why you think about this or that person, because firstly, there are many of them and secondly, they are not important.
The only thing that is important is the mechanism: why this thought process starts (that is, how the human psyche is structured and by what principles); and how, as quickly and carefully as possible for yourself, stop this painful and completely ineffective process. Why do we think about a person - in the context of accelerated anxiety, unpleasant viscosity, stickiness, fixation and obsession? I will answer. Because there is uncertainty in the relationship with this person. This mechanism is triggered not only in romantic relationships, but also in communication with colleagues/employees, parents, friends and any random people.
