I sincerely dont understand why the phrase independent tourist is associated in the minds of many with a creature in worn sneakers)
With a backpack in which canned food and a match are stored, as well as a boiler and a couple of cans of stew? In my opinion, everything is much simpler: an independent tourist is one who realizes his trips independently. Perhaps he lives in the same hotel in which a tour operator bought a dozen rooms for his package travelers, and he will go for a walk along the same Golden Street in Prague, but he will not cease to be an independent tourist. The hidden meanings and ideological contradictions in this case seem to me... well, far-fetched.
